Last Sunday at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila, Joshua Oliveros, Ang Hopeful Son from Antique, was announced as the representative of FamiLEA in the Live Finals of the third season of “The Voice Kids”. He received 56.15% of the votes and defeated his teammates Yessha Calzada, who received 33.71% and Angel Peñaflor, who got 33.71%.
With his soulful voice, Joshua impressed the coaches and the audience and gave tear-jerking performances throughout the competition. The never-ending support of his dad inspired him to always do his best so he can win the grand title and help his family’s financial problem.
Before the Grand Finals this weekend, let us look back at his journey and previous performances in the top-rating reality singing competition.
He performed “Habang May Buhay” popularized by After Image during the Blind Auditions. At the last second, Broadway Diva Lea Salonga hit the red button and turned for him and she became his coach for the competition.
For the Battles, he sang “Ngayon at Kailanman” popularized by Basil Valdez with two of his teammates Natalie Martinez and Maegan Frondoso. After their stunning performance, Coach Lea picked Joshua to advance to the Sing-offs.
For the Sing-offs, he performed “Ikaw” popularized by Yeng Constantino. After all the performances of the members of FamiLEA, Coach Lea chose Joshua and he advanced to the Live Semi-Finals with Yessha Calzada and Angel Peñaflor.
For the Live Semi-Finals, he performed “Mama” popularized by Smokey Mountain. After the performances of the Top 3 young artists of FamiLEA, the televiewers voted and chose Joshua to represent the team of the Broadway Diva in the Live Finals.
