Pilipinas Got Talent Grand Winners and their breathtaking performances through the years

The biggest and most successful nationwide talent reality show in the country is now back to showcase the world-class talent of Filipino for the sixth time. Since it started airing in February 2010, it has produced five grand winners from its five seasons – the first four were singers while the most recent was a dance duo.

Vice Ganda, Angel Locsin, Robin Padilla, and Freddie “FMG” M. Garcia will also reprise their stint as the panel of judges while Toni Gonzaga will replace Luis Manzano as Billy Crawford’s partner host.

Before we welcome new talents or witness past participants’ another attempt to get the jurors’ highly coveted “yes”, let’s reminisce the astounding performances of the previous grand winners.

Jovit Baldivino

He may be small, but the former siomai vendor from Batangas proved that he’s ultimately extraordinary when it comes to singing as he emerged as the first-ever champion of the competition. His spectacular rendition of Queen’s classic hit “Too Much Love Will Kill You” gave us goosebumps and garnered round of applause from the spectators.

Aside from his powerful vocals, it was Jovit’s natural charisma that made him a rare gem in the industry. Like what Ai-Ai uttered, he’s an “endangered species” indeed!

Marcelito Pomoy

Everytime this Caviteño crooner performs, it’s impossible for us not to have a second look. His ability to belt out high notes using both his natural masculine voice and feminine voice, as what others dubbed as “duet yourself”, is absolutely unbelievable!

Thus, the Queen of All Media Kris Aquino, a PGT judge at the time, was very much expressive of her admiration towards him and jested her wishful thinking of being his wife after Marcelito’s winning performance of the “The Prayer”.

Maasinhon Trio

With the melodious blending of their voices, this trio from Maasin, Southern Leyte immediately got the nods of the three judges during the auditions. Ai-Ai couldn’t hide her amusement with the presentation and elation that their group – comprised by Bonifacio Salubre, Andrew Sanchez, and Licinio Lolo – chose the OPM classic “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika” as their contest piece.

Roel Manlangit

After becoming a YouTube sensation when his video singing Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” had gone viral, Roel Manlangit saw himself conquering the PGT stage in 2013.

The judges got smitten with his charm and bright smile at first, but fell in love with the 13-year-old boy even more when they heard his powerful singing voice during the auditions.

The Bukidnon native didn’t waste the bombastic “Yes” given to him as he finished the competition with his soulful rendition of the rock song “Noypi” and proved that he truly deserves the two million-peso jackpot prize.

Power Duo

Breaking the winning streak of singers were dancers Anjanette and Gervin, or collectively known as Power Duo, who bagged the grand winner title and two million-peso cash prize with their emotive performance in the most recent season of PGT.

The couple had been an early favorite since the auditions because they were able to impress the panel and the audiences with their heart-stopping and fantastic interpretation of the classic hit “On the Wings of Love”, which involved a lot of liftings and stunts.

With their flawless routine and unmistakable chemistry, which could be because of the fact that they’re in the “mutual understanding” stage, Robin pressed the “Golden Buzzer”.

And during the grand finals, the couple showed that their worthy to be hailed as the champions through their sensual, poignant, and breathtaking interpretation to Angeline Quinto’s “Ikaw Lamang” that garnered standing ovation from the spectators.

Catch the premiere of Pilipinas Got Talent Season 6 this coming weekend, Saturday after Home Sweetie Home and Sunday after Goin’ Bulilit.
