The Language of Love: Three kinds you’ll find in Kapamilya teleseryes

You always remember the day you met. How the weather felt on your skin, either from the scorching heat or the soaking rain. Maybe you were having a great day or maybe you woke up on the wrong side of the bed. You were running late for class, late for work, or you might have just been taking things slow. Then suddenly, you meet someone. It could have been awkward. You two could have gotten off on the wrong foot. Or it could have been great from the start. Little did you know, this was the first chapter of your love story.

“An Unexpected Surprise” (Akin Ka Nalang / Just The Way You Are)

We never know when Cupid’s arrow is going to hit, or who the target is. But we do know that the God of Love recently aimed for the characters of Sana Dalawa Ang Puso. When Mona (Jodi Sta. Maria) happens to see Martin (Richard Yap), the man behind Cosovich’s success, the world stopped. Meanwhile, the brusque Leo (Robin Padilla) and the no-nonsense business woman Lisa (Jodi Sta. Maria) may have clashing personalities, but the intensity is undeniable. This only shows how unpredictable love can be. The four of them may have lived different lives in the past, but those quiet days are long gone now that they have crossed paths.

“The Big What If” (Wag Na Wag Mong Sasabihin / Kung Ako Na Lang Sana)

There are going to be times, however, when we have to kill that love bug because it’s not meant to be. Hazel (Loisa Andalio) from The Good Son is someone who’s all too familiar with this feeling. She and Enzo (Jerome Ponce) may be on opposing sides now, but they were once the best of friends. Having known each other since childhood, Hazel hoped that they could become more than friends someday. And she stayed hopeful for as long as she can. But in the end, she had to accept the reality that they can never go back to the old days.

Paco (Arjo Atayde) and Anna (Sue Ramirez) from Hanggang Saan could have gone all the way, but it was a tragic love story from the start. As much as they love each other, injustice and death stacked the odds against them.

And who could forget the twisted fate of Ana (Julia Montes) and Gael (Paulo Avelino) from Asintado. It seemed like the perfect Cinderella love story. Gael even confessed that he was willing to give up everything for Ana. But, when she trusted and needed him most, he revealed which side he was on.

“The Forever Around the Corner” (Hawak Kamay / That Thing Called Tadhana)

Indeed, love is in the air and in your television screens. Amidst all the surprises and heartbreaks, there are still some couples that prove true love exists. It’s the kind of love that’s like a partnership, as Lily (Maja Salvador) and Diego (Joseph Marco) from Wildflower showed us. No matter what the Ardientes throwed at them, they’ve got each other’s back.

In FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Cardo (Coco Martin) has become wanted and been branded as a rebel, but Alyanna (Yassi Pressman) remained a strong and loving wife because forever means having a relationship built on faith.

And even as Tristan (Daniel Padilla) acted hostile towards Malia (Kathryn Bernardo) in their first reunion after two years in La Luna Sangre, she didn’t jump to conclusions. Instead, she asked for an explanation. Because loving someone means trusting them.
