In the top-rating teleserye “Doble Kara”, Julia Montes plays twin sisters Kara and Sara. To make the scenes look more believable when these two characters are together, Julia needed a body double.

During the finale press conference of the show, Julia reached out to the cast member who played a very important role on the show, but has never faced the camera. She said “Gusto ko lang din i-take 'yung opportunity na ‘to. Sa kambal ko na from the very start hanggang end, nakasama ko po. Marami po sila, pero itong isa pong taong ‘to, itong isang babaeng ‘to, si Jacqui Leus, wala po kayong makikitang ginagampanan ko at ginagawa ko 'yung kambal na magkaiba without her. Ino-offer ko po ‘to sa kaniya. Wala din ang success ng “Doble Kara” without her.”

Today, before the series airs its palaban na finale this February 10, let us get to know more about Julia’s double in the daytime series.

She is Charlene Jacqui Ann Leus or simply known as Jacqui Leus, 24 years old, and a registered pharmacist. She graduated at the University of Santo Tomas last April 2013. Since October 2013, she has been doing and attending Star Magic Workshops to hone her talent in performing. Before “Doble Kara”, she played as one of the mean girls to Jane Oineza in the 2015 daytime series “Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita”.

Jacqui shared that she was originally chosen to be the secretary of Chloe (Patricia Javier) in “Doble Kara”. However, since she wasn’t able to take those scenes that day, she was called on the next taping day as a different character. She was cast as one of Kara’s officemates, a role she auditioned for. She then added that while the wardrobe team was choosing her clothes for her scenes, one of the show’s directors, Manny Palo, noticed her while she was facing back. She was then approached by the director and he inquired about her height. She was also asked if she was willing to cut and color her hair. When she agreed, she was sent to the nearest salon and then after the dinner break, she shot her first scene as Julia’s double.

She also mentioned that originally, Julia had many body doubles and she was only one of the doubles for Kara. However, when all the others decided to quit, the production team no longer looked for replacements and she became Julia’s one and only double for both Kara and Sara.

Having worked with Julia for a long time, Jacqui described the Daytime Drama Queen as one of the kindest and most generous people she has ever known. “Kahit po matagal na siya sa showbiz, hindi ko po siya nakitaan na nagmataas o kung ano man po sa buong pagsasama namin ng almost 2 years.” She also shared that Julia always made her feel welcome and treated everyone on the set like family. Aside from her simplicity and humility, she also praised Julia’s professionalism and dedication to her craft. “Makikita mo talaga sa kanya na mahal niya ‘yung trabaho niya.”

After hearing Julia’s message for her, Jacqui felt very thankful for sharing her success with her. “Ang palagi ko nga po sinasabi na forever grateful po ako for the role. Kahit before po may mga nagsasabi sa 'kin na bakit daw po ako nagtiyatiyaga as double, sinasabi ko po na hindi ko naman habol makita, nag-eenjoy din po talaga ako. It's really an honor na makatrabaho po sila, at lalo na na maging kambal ako ni Julia, nakakaproud po talaga.”

She also shared how much she has learned simply working with the talented cast, directors and crew. According to Jacqui, they all have inspired her to do always do well in everything. She then left a message for Julia, saying “Juls, thank you sa pag-guide sa 'kin dito sa “Doble Kara”. Palagi mo sinasabi na kung hindi dahil sa 'kin, hindi mo magagawa ‘yung kambal, pero alam mo rin na hindi ako magtatagal kung hindi dahil sa ‘yo. Hindi mo 'ko pinabayaan sa buong 1 year and 6 months natin sa taping. Pinaramdam mo sa 'kin na part ako ng “Doble Kara”, winelcome mo 'ko na talagang part ako ng cast.”

She ended her message with “Hinding-hindi ko makakalimutan ‘yung memories natin in and outside DK. Super blessed ako to meet you and makatrabaho ka. Ang bait mong anak, kapatid, kaibigan. Napakahusay mo na artista! I love you so much "Ate" and madami kaming taong nagmamahal sa ‘yo.”

Don’t miss the explosive last few episodes of “Doble Kara”, weekdays after “It’s Showtime” only on ABS-CBN Kapamilya Gold.
