Certainly, he won’t be dubbed as the Asian Drama King for nothing. With an astonishing 21-year teleserye run, Jericho Rosales has undoubtedly cemented his reputation as one of the most illustrious and gifted actors in the local entertainment scene.

As we look forward to his newest role as the dashing and loving Lino Bartolome in the upcoming primetime series Halik, let’s take a trip down memory lane and trace the exceptional showbiz journey of the one-and-only Jericho Rosales.

He had his acting debut via the Judy Ann Santos teleserye Esperanza, where he was paired with Angelika Dela Cruz. They portrayed Buboy and Cecille in the drama.

It was succeeded by his stint in the weekly family drama Ang Munting Paraiso as Alberto Dionisio, the dependable firstborn of Martin (Ronaldo Valdez) and Margarita (Coney Reyes). This was when his undisputed team-up with Kristine Hermosa started, who played as his girlfriend Rowena.

Due to their unmistakable chemistry, the Echo-Tin tandem was given their own show in 2000, Pangako Sa ‘Yo, where they played the star-crossed lovers Angelo Buenavista and Yna Macaspac. It was not only a huge hit here in the Philippines, but in some neighboring Asian and African countries as well, catapulting them to immense popularity. It was aired for two years, making it one of the longest-running local series of all time, and was recreated in 2015 with Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla playing the iconic on-screen couple.

Just like Pangako Sa ‘Yo, their next project together, Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas, was also released in some parts of Asia and Africa. His compelling portrayal of Christian Soriano, whose romance with Ara (Kristine Hermosa) got ruined after discovering her family’s involvement in his tragic past, brought him the Best Drama Actor nomination in the 18th and 19th PMPC Star Awards for Television.

While showcasing his brilliance as a dramatic actor, Jericho also exposed his funny side through his gigs in the noontime Masayang Tanghali Bayan and sitcom Bora: Sons of the Beach.

At the same time, he amazed the audiences with his amazing performance as Tristan, a blacksmith who forged another powerful sword similar to Flavio (Philip Salvador) in order to save the world from the evil Lizardo (Victor Neri) and his lady love Eden (Heart Evangelista), in the 2005 TV adaptation of the popular Carlo J. Caparas’ masterpiece Ang Panday.

Since the 38-year-old actor is also inclined to music, his fans were presumably thrilled to see him as the leading man of the Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo in the musical primetime series Pangarap na Bituin. He played Terrence Rodriguez, a revered rockstar and the childhood friend of Emerald, who helped her achieve her ambition of becoming a famous singer and became her lover.

In 2008, he took on the role of a PDEA agent named Rocky Santillan in the teleserye Kahit Isang Saglit, who investigated the murder of his policeman father while doing a special assignment in Malaysia. There, he accidentally (and literally) bumped into Garie (Malaysian-Chinese actress Carmen Soo), who would later on become his love interest. The series was the first collaborative production of Philippines and Malaysia.

A year after, the award-winning actor was hired to portray the role Aldo in the Filipino adaptation of the Colombian hit telenovela I Love Betty La Fea. He was a mysterious blind man who rescued and took care of the titular character played by Bea Alonzo, when her unconscious body reached the shore after falling off a boat.

After five years, Echo reunited with her recurring loveteam partner Kristine Hermosa through the legal drama series Dahil May Isang Ikaw. They played childhood friends Miguel and Ella, respectively, who both became respected lawyers and lovers when they were both adults. The show was also released in Asian countries such as Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Kazakhstan, and the United Arab Emirates, and even reached Europe.

In 2011, he was tapped to be the lead male protagonist for the Pinoy adaptation of the 2005 Koreanovela Green RoseJerome Delgado. The suspense-romance drama followed the romantic affair of his character with the female lead Angela (Anne Curtis) and how their strong love for each other helped them survive a harrowing obstacle.

On that same year, we were so delighted to see him on the fantasy drama 100 Days to Heaven, where he had a short yet special participation as a security guard, one of the many guises of Tagabantay. The actor had a reunion, too, with her mom in Munting Paraiso, Coney Reyes.

After only receiving nominations in the past stagings of PMPC Star Awards for Television, Jericho finally took home the Best Drama Actor through his award-winning portrayal in the revenge series Dahil Sa Pag-Ibig as Oliver Falcon/Jepoy Osorio, a vengeful son who wanted to avenge his father’s tragic death, even though it meant fighting against his estranged brother.

Once again, he was nominated as Best Drama Actor in the 28th PMPC Star Awards for Television for his fascinating performance in the controversial teleserye The Legal Wife. He was Adrian de Villa, who found himself entangled in love triangle with his wife Monica (Angel Locsin) and his paramour Nicole (Maja Salvador).

In 2015, the versatile hunk heartthrob proved that his acting chops is world-class as his reunion project with Maja, The Bridges of Love, was said to be the first Philippine series to be aired in Peru and in the whole region of Latin America. He again figured in a love triangle as his character Gael fell in love with Maja’s Mia, the same woman who completed his long-lost brother JR’s broken heart.

His last teleserye prior to Halik was Magpahanggang Wakas in 2016 where he was paired with Arci Muñoz. Their characters, Waldo and Aryann, were lovers back in their hometown, until unfortunate circumstances tore them apart. Destiny made it possible for them to meet again, but the latter was already tied with the affluent Tristan (John Estrada). Amidst of all the challenges, Waldo didn’t easily gave up in his pursuit of reclaiming his one great love and he succeeded.

Brace yourselves as Jericho is set to make our hearts aflutter again through his another promising portrayal in the highly-anticipated romantic drama Halik, beginning August 13 on Primetime Bida.
