Hinirang bilang kauna-unahang “Search for the Idol Philippines” si Zephanie Dimaranan matapos niyang pabilibin ang judges at publiko gamit ang kanyang tinig sa dalawang araw na grand finals na kompetisyon noong Sabado at Linggo (Hulyo 27 at 28).


Nakakuha si Zephanie ng 100% mula sa pinagsamang scores ng judges at text votes para higitan ang mga katapat niyang sina Lucas Garcia (70.2%) at Lance Busa (41.89%). Bilang premyo, nag-uwi ang singer na tubong Laguna ng P2 milyon, house and lot, trip for four to Taiwan, at recording contract from ABS-CBN.


Noong Sabado, nakipagtagisan ng galing si Zephanie sa pag-awit niya ng “Lipad ng Pangarap” na nagpapasok sa kanya sa Top 3. Nito namang Linggo, kinanta niya ang “Maghintay Ka Lamang” at ang original composition ni Jonathan Manalo na “Pangarap Kong Pangarap Mo.


Kasabay ng tagisan sa galing ng Idol hopefuls ang pagbisita ng “American Idol” finalist at Filipino pride na si Jessica Sanchez na umawit ng “And I Am Telling You.” Nagpamalas din ng husay ang singing champions na sina Jona, Elha Nympha, Janine Berdin, at KZ Tandingan sa pagbirit nila ng mga awitin kasama ng Top 3 Idol hopefuls.


Samantala, lubos namang tinutukan sa telebisyon ang naganap na grand finals matapos humataw sa national TV rating na 31.4% ang reality-singing competition noong Sabado, kumpara sa “Starstruck” (14.3%). Nanguna rin ito noong Linggo sa pagtala nito ng 34.2%, kontra sa 15.9% ng katapat nito.


Naging usap-usapan din sa social media ang tapatan ng Idol hopefuls matapos mag-top trending topic worldwide ang official hashtags nito na #IdolPHFinalShowdown at #IdolPHGrandWinner.
