Vice Ganda’s many firsts as the extraordinary Unkabogable Star

That’s what Vice Ganda stated during his birthday celebration on Gandang Gabi Vice on 2015 as he looked back on his journey from being an impressive stand-up comedian to becoming the renowned multi-faceted artist who serves as an inspiration to the LGBTQIA+ community, budding comedians, and ordinary people.

As he steps on the newest chapter of his life as one of the distinguished panel of Idol Philippines, the Filipino adaptation of the global Idol franchise, let’s revisit five of his most significant “firsts” of his career as the extraordinary Unkabogable Star.

First TV appearance

Before claiming his fame as one of the mainstays of the long-running noontime program It’s Showtime, Vice first amused us with his notable flair in comedy as one of the contestants of the now-defunctWowowee, wherein he showcased his wit during his short interview with the hosts and his signature dance moves.

First TV guesting

On his birthday celebration on GGV, “You’re My Boss” stars and two of Vice’s closest friends in show business, Toni Gonzaga and Coco Martin, joined him in recalling the first time he was invited to be a guest in a television show.

On Boy & Kris talk show, hosts Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda asked their guests to write their ambitions on a piece of paper that they have to paste on a ball and shoot it on a “Drum ng Pangarap”. He expressed his dream of becoming a TV host but failed to shoot it. That might appear as a negative sign, but he obviously didn’t let that overpower him because look where he is now.

First Movie

From exhibiting his acting talent on television since 1999, the 43-year-old superstar eventually had his big screen debut through his supporting role in the 2009 movie “In My Life,” starring Vilma Santos, John Lloyd Cruz, and Luis Manzano. He portrayed the funny yet trustworthy subordinate of the lead female character.

First GGV Episode

In 2014, Vice received one of the biggest blessings of his life as not only his comedic talent was noticed, but his hosting prowess as well, when he was bestowed his solo program Gandang Gabi Vice.

The well-loved show commenced on May 22, 2011 by inviting over three of the most beautiful faces of the Kapamilya network -- Angeline Quinto, Bea Alonzo, and Kim Chiu -- and grilled them with his funny, and sometimes controversial, questions.

First single

It was not just in acting where he created waves, but in music as well. His album was released in 2011 with seven songs in it and had the carrier single "Lakas Tama" which was originally sang by local band Siakol.

Are you excited as us to see him as the one of fabulous judges of Idol Philippines? Don't miss its premiere on Easter Sunday, April 21.
