Her beauty is unmistakable, moreso her luscious appeal—yet, with an affable, welcoming vibe that makes you feel you’ve been friends for so long.

It would thus won’t be surprising if the name Sheree Bautista doesn’t escape you, linking it to the famed Viva Hot Babes of the early 2000s, which titillated and engrossed us with their sensuality and allure, wherein she is a pioneer member. But more than that, Sheree has likewise impressed us with her acting on TV dramas through the years, and captivated us with her music that spanned several genres.

Actually, she could not imagine her world without performing. At a time when she lied low from showbiz after giving birth to her son with ex-boyfriend, singer Gian Magdangal, Haley, in 2008, Sheree said she took the cudgels in moving her career forward despite the setbacks.

“May mga times na wala akong trabaho after I gave birth. After ako nagkaanak, napahinga ako for a while sa showbiz pero what I did is I produced my own shows as in ako na nagsasarili talaga,” Sheree said in an exclusive interview with Entertainment.ABS-CBN.com.

Migrating to US

Sheree said her whole family had migrated to the US, residing in the state of Virginia, and had since tried to lure her to join them. “Lagi akong kinukumbinse na lumipat na ako doon. Sabi ng mommy ko ‘pag lumipat ako, meron maraming work,” she said.

“Sabi ko sa kanila na kung lumipat ako dyan, kailangan malaman n’yo na sa entertainment industry pa rin ako magtatrabaho kasi ever since bata pa ako I’ve been dreaming to be an actress, to be a singer, to be a performer.”

This is because, she said, she couldn’t imagine herself just sitting behind a desk.

She decided to carry on pushing her luck in local showbiz, and it paid off, landing TV acting stints and scoring music deals and gigs. “Ngayon na naabot ko, siyempre bakit ko pa pababayaan, ‘di ba?”

Jessa

Today, avid followers of the hit Kapamilya Gold drama Kadenang Ginto can’t separate her from the character Jessa, which had been regular afternoon fare.
“Because I’m part of Kadenang Ginto, people notice me as Jessa, to the extent they are calling me Jessa na wherever I go,” Sheree said.

Who couldn’t miss Sheree on the program with a role we can’t fail to unsee—from her lesbian affair with Aleck Bovick’s Myrna to her romance with Myrna’s ex-husband Kulas (Ronnie Lazaro).  And this has been her most prominent role so far, as she has been the kind of respect as an actress she had long wished.

Dream role

“This has been a dream talaga na sana one day, I’ve been praying for it, na sana one day, I’ll be given a role in the show na medyo seseryosohin,” she emphasized. “It’s a great opportunity, it’s a big opportunity, and I’m very, very thankful to ABS-CBN and Kadenang Ginto for considering me for the role.”

Working for the daily teleserye, she said, is not only a dream come true but also a great pleasure, day in and day out. “Sobrang I feel so blessed and I feel so lucky lalo na sa mga nakatrabaho…Sobrang bait talaga ang lahat,” she said. “At saka, always all the time, look forward ka to go to your work kasi excited ka.”

She attributes the show’s success to its writers for all the twists and turns of the show, and how their characters were developed, which truly made the show as popular as it is. Viral, and meme-able even.

“Ang gagaling nila (mga writers). ‘Yung mangigigil silang lahat,” she said.

Of course, she commended the producers, directors and production crew for making it all work on set. “Saludo ako sa EP namin, sa staff, sa mga director naming. Sobrang saludo talaga ako sa kanila,” she added. “Kung paano sila magtrabaho, gawin ‘yung show namin, talagang iba. So bilib talaga ako.”

What’s next for Sheree? According to her, it’s trying to stay in the limelight for as long as she can.

“Dancing, performing, acting, ‘yun talaga kasi ang linya na gusto ko, and I will be there as much as I can forever. Kung pwedeng forever akong aarte at magpe-perform sa entablado, gagawin ko ‘yun. Why not? ‘Yung opportunity nandoon pa rin hanggang pagtanda, why not?”

In this regard, she mentions a showbiz legend she can relate to.
“At least nakita ko na sarili ko kay Vivian Velez eh. May pag-asa pa naman ako ‘pag medyo nagka-edad na ako nang konti, ‘di ba?”
