How Rebecca’s steadfast motherly love led her to find Angela in Ngayon at Kailanman

Krista Baldono January 15,2019 12:12 AM

Shortly after Rebecca Marquez-Young (Iza Calzado) gave birth to Angela Cortes (Julia Barretto), they were separated due to a series of tragedies that happened to their family. The night she surprisingly learned that the love of her life Rodrigo Cortes (TJ Trinidad) has died, Rebecca didn’t even manage to say her goodbyes to him after they were banned to set foot on the Cortes’ mansion. That same night, Rebecca with her infant daughter Angela and her cousin Russell (Nico Antonio) were massacred.

Unbeknownst to Rebecca, her daughter was saved by the lead gunman who shot her. And although she miraculously survived in the incident, Rebecca suffered in grief of losing her family.

But even after these tragedies, Rebecca didn’t lose faith that her daughter was still alive and she would still see her. In her journey to find justice, she found her daughter as she always hoped.

As Rebecca and her daughter Angela’s story comes to an end, let’s take a look back at Rebecca’s journey as a mother in finding her long lost daughter.

Gets Help from a Friend

At the time that Hernan Cortes (Christian Vasquez) left his family for a while and unexpectedly lived for days near Rebecca’s residence, Rebecca grabbed the opportunity of knowing him and being his friend. When Hernan knew Rebecca’s relation to his half-brother Rodrigo, and being haunted by his conscience in knowing that he has contributed to the cause of Rodrigo’s death, Hernan vowed to help Rebecca to find justice for all the tragedies that happened to her family, and to find her daughter Angela. Rebecca accepted his help, having faith that Hernan’s help might lead her to her daughter.

Series of Encounters

With Rebecca’s strong faith and perseverance, the heavens heard her prayer and let her and her daughter meet. Rebecca crossed paths with her daughter Angela, who at the time was named Eva by her adoptive Mapendo family, at a staircase in a building. Although they are still strangers to each other then, they strangely felt a connection. After this, they met again during Rebecca’s exhibit. This time, they formally introduced themselves to each other and were speechless in discovering that they were wearing a necklace with a similar flower design.

Getting Closer

When they finally knew each other, Rebecca’s maternal instinct continued to draw her to Eva. Although she didn’t really have to, Rebecca started to visit Eva in the house of the Mapendos. Rebecca apologized to Eva for not doing anything to help her during the launch of Angela collection when Stella Cortes (Alice Dixson) humiliated her. Rebecca also promised to help her in pursuing her dreams. Since then, Rebecca spent more time with her and have always confided with Eva how much she misses her daughter.

Taking the Risk and Facing the Struggles

Being urged by her mother’s instinct and noticing that some of Eva’s stories are somewhat connected to her, Rebecca bravely took the risk and asked Eva and her adoptive family to perform a DNA test with her. After some time, Eva agreed. Having formed a special bond between each other, Eva and Rebecca promised to treat each other like family no matter what happens. However, Stella did everything she can to separate them. An ambitious girl named Roxanne Constantino (Elisse Joson) pretended to be Rebecca’s long lost daughter, and Rebecca’s DNA test with Eva was sabotaged as per Stella’s plan. Nevertheless, Rebecca knew that Roxanne is a fake but she pretended not to know to protect Eva.

Reunited

And, the truth will always prevail in the end. After Eva finally remembered what happened to her as a child, she goes to Rebecca and narrates to her everything. With those memories and Rodrigo’s necklace as evidence, Rebecca realizes that her search is over. Eva is actually her long lost daughter, Angela. With tears of joy, they went back to each other’s arms and recognized each other as family.

Rebecca’s journey in finding her daughter Angela seemed impossible at first. But she has shown us a courageous spirit of a mother, who never gives up in spite of the difficulties she faced. It proves her unconditional and everlasting motherly love.

Witness how Rebecca and Angela story will end in the final episodes of Ngayon at Kailanman, all this week after FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
