From being a young girl with big, bright dreams, Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo has indeed gone a long way. Fueled with pure determination, passion and talent, she became one of the most inspiring singers in the country.
Sarah hailed from simple roots, starting to dream big at an early age. When she was 4 years old, Sarah became part of the children's variety show Penpen De Sarapen.
Having the full support of her parents, Sarah went through several auditions for different television programs. She also performed at shopping malls, hotel lounges, and joined various singing competitions. As she kept on trying, the golden opportunity came for her that sparked her successful journey in the music industry.
At 14 years old, Sarah competed in 2002’s televised singing contest titled Star for a Night. She championed the said competition and Celine Dion’s “To Love You More” became her winning piece. She gained the titled of being the “PopStar Princess,” won 1 million pesos cash prize and a management contract with Viva Artists Agency.
In her teenage years, Sarah continued to soar higher in her career. She had her debut album titled “Popstar: A Dream Come True” in 2003 and ventured into acting by doing supporting roles on films.
Officially becoming a Kapamilya artist in 2004, Sarah starred on her first television series titled Sarah the Teen Princess. Along with that, she started as a regular host and performer of ASAP (now ASAP Natin ‘To). One of her best moments in the said variety show was when she celebrated her 10th anniversary in the industry.
Along with singing, Sarah continued to pursue an acting and hosting career. In 2005, she joined the cast of the teen-oriented television program titled SCQ Reload: Kilig Ako.
Sarah hosted the two seasons of the singing competition for young aspiring singers titled Little Big Star from 2005 to 2007.
In 2005, she hosted the reality singing competition titled Search for the Star in a Million. Her co-hosts on the show are Prince of Pop Erik Santos, Christian Bautista and Mark Bautista.
Sarah's acting career also flourished, starring on the 2006 drama series Bituing Walang Ningning with Angelika Dela Cruz, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Amy Austria, Tonton Gutierrez, Ryan Agoncillo, John Prats, Carlo Aquino, and Ai-Ai delas Alas.
Also in 2006, Sarah had her first pair up with John Lloyd Cruz in 2006 on Maalaala Mo Kaya’s episode titled “Kwintas.” Two years after this, their ‘kilig’ tandem went onto the big screen in the 2008 romantic comedy “A Very Special Love.”
In 2007, Sarah joined the cast of the musical primetime series titled Pangarap na Bituin. Alongside Rica Peralejo, Maja Salvador, Nikki Gil, and Jericho Rosales, the show is phenomenal by being a regional semi-finalist for the 2008 International Emmy Awards under the Telenovela Program category.
Sarah starred once again on Maalaala Mo Kaya in the episode titled “Dollhouse” in 2008. With her on the said episode were Jason Abalos and Cherry Pie Picache.
In 2010, Sarah became the leading lady of the primetime series titled 1DOL. Her leading men were Sam Milby and Coco Martin. Sarah performed the show’s opening theme titled "You'll Always Be My Number One".
From 2012 to 2013, Sarah showcased her singing and dancing prowess as she hosted her very own evening musical show titled Sarah G. Live!
Now that her dreams had become a reality and she achieved much more than she imagined, Sarah maintained the same humble character and sweet personality that she had from the very start. Having a generous heart, she aimed to help others reach their dream of becoming a superstar like her. Since 2013, she became one of the mainstay coaches in the reality singing competition titled The Voice of the Philippines.
During the very first season of The Voice, Team Sarah produced Klarisse De Guzman, who is now one of the ASAP Divas.
On its second season in 2014, Sarah became the winning coach as her team member Jason Dy became the season’s grand champion.
Although she experienced a victory drought in the succeeding seasons of The Voice, Team Sarah produced the first ever champion for the kids’ edition that is Lyca Gairanod.
For the first and only season of the teens edition of The Voice in 2017, Sarah coached the competition’s grand champion, Jona Marie Soquite.
