Kapamilya celebrities from UP who rejoiced with Fighting Maroons

A victory so emotionally euphoric since it came after 32 long years. The Fighting Maroons men’s basketball team of the University of the Philippines has barged into the UAAP finals against no less than its Katipunan Avenue neighbors, Ateneo de Manila.

Their Final Four back-to-back wins against favorites and twice-to-beat opponents Adamson University was monumental, considering their uphill battle reaching to where they are right now.

And Kapamilya celebrities, who graduated from UP expressed their utmost jubilation as they celebrated with the academic and alumni communities in savoring that win, which gives the Fighting Maroons that big chance of bringing back the glory of 1986, the last year UP won a UAAP title.

Bandila anchor Karen Davila, a Mass Communications graduate, was extremely joyful that the Fighting Maroons achieved that milestone.

But who can top Matanglawin host Kim Atienza, a BA Film and Audiovisual Communications Graduate, who shared a video of the ABS-CBN Newsroom all jubilant and overjoyed.


TV Patrol entertainment anchor Gretchen Fullido, also a BA Film and Audiovisual Communications graduate, likewise couldn’t hide that pride as she scrambled for that last piece of the Fighting Maroons shirt at the ABS-CBN Store.

Entertainment and media personality Angeli Pangilinan Valenciano, wife of ASAP Natin ‘To mainstay Gary Valenciano, was also thrilled in declaring her loyalty to her alma mater in its march to the UAAP Finals.

Asintado actress Agot Isidro, an Interior Design graduate, also gave her heart to this incredible feat of the Fighting Maroons.

And Ormoc City Mayor and “Three Words to Forever” star and Open University Associate in Arts graduate Richard Gomez, who last appeared on TV in the MMK episode “Traysikel” and the teleserye You’re My Home, was likewise elated about his Alma Mater’s accomplishment, as he gave a dare to the Fighting Maroons’ adversaries.

Let’s all give it to these Kapamilya celebrities who have made their mark as news and entertainment personalities, going back to their strong roots as Iskolars ng Bayan overly enraptured with this enormous varsity sports feat of their Alma Mater.

And come December 1, we expect throngs of them watching intently as UP meets Ateneo for the UAAP title for the first time in history.
