An OFW receives the biggest Christmas surprise from Frontrow December 27, 2018 02:39 PM

There are many reasons why Filipinos go abroad, but the most common is to seek greener pastures so that they may provide better lives for their families back home.

Reinalyn Tadeo, a Filipino who had left home and started working at just 16 years old, sought a brighter future as one of the estimated 180,000 OFWS in Singapore. And it’s been 12 years since she’s gone back home to Pangasinan.

“I’ve been blessed because through my work, I’ve been able buy land and build a home for my family. Now, I don’t have to worry if they’re safe whenever the rains come,” she says in the vernacular.

She’s proud of all the achievements she’s made, and how, as a breadwinner, she’s been able to provide for the needs of not only her immediate, but extended family.

As she brims with joy and pride, she can’t help but also feel a tinge of sadness. Working abroad, she’s had to make certain sacrifices such as being away from family for most of her life. “I’m not there for the big events – birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and the like… Christmas, in fact, is the most painful for me. I’m happy that I’m able to send them gifts, but if I had the choice, I would really wish to be with them just once. But it seems impossible.”

But it’s a dream that’s not impossible. Through Frontrow, the globally renowned, multi-awarded marketing company, Tadeo is given the surprise of her life – the chance to finally celebrate Christmas and reunite with family.

Here, watch her heartfelt journey unfold.
