“How Hard Did Aging Hit You” Challenge has been all over the social media these past few days and we, Filipinos, cannot help but keep pace with the trend, especially because we like reminiscing and looking back to things that we were associated with, or, who we were exactly many years back. It really is fun especially when there has been a huge change in ourselves as we, well, have aged. Wonder how some of our favorite Kapamilya celebrities have been as years passed by? Here are these lead stars and how they appeared in ABS-CBN programs ten years before and at present.

Coco Martin
2009 Tayong Dalawa, 2019 FPJ's Ang Probinsyano

Although both dramas were considered top teleseryes in their respective eras, we can still say how the roles of Coco Martin have transformed, from being a young thug Ramon in Tayong Dalawa in 2009, to doing the well-known and much-appreciated role of Cardo in the hit series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

Angel Locsin
2009, Only You, 2019 The General's Daughter

When we talk about a veteran and an accomplished actress, we talk about Angel Locsin. Angel actually has probably done almost all roles there can be in teleseryes. This includes playing the role of Jillian in the Philippine remake of the hit Korean series Only You in 2009, and accepting the challenge of taking the multi-faceted character of Rhian Bonifacio in the upcoming action-drama series, The General’s Daughter.

Jericho Rosales
2009 Dahil May Isang Ikaw, 2019 Halik

The Asian Drama King won’t be dubbed as such if it weren’t for his commendable and fine talent in acting. 2009’s Dahil May Isang Ikaw was the drama series that marked the comeback of the Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales love team. After a decade, Jericho was back again to play the role of Lino in the current groundbreaking series Halik.

Sam Milby
2009 Only You, 2019 Halik

Ten years ago, Sam Milby played the character of TJ in the same series where Angel Locsin starred, the remake of Only You in 2009. Here, Sam took the role of an egoistic businessman who crossed paths with Angel Locsin’s character Jillian. Ten years later, Sam was challenged to portray the role of Ace Corpuz, in the most-talked drama series Halik where everyone sees and remembers him as the lover of Jade, portrayed by Yam Concepcion, wife of Jericho Rosales’s character Lino in the series.

Maja Salvador
2009 Nagsimula Sa Puso, 2019 World of Dance Philippines

Maja got to play a relatively challenging role in Nagsimula sa Puso in 2009 when she accepted the portrayal of her role of Celina, a young professor who develops a relationship with his student, Carlo, played by Coco Martin. After ten years, Maja takes a different role compared to the ones she has portrayed before. Now, she is ready more than ever to judge the newest reality dance competition World Dance Philippines, which premiered last January 12. It’s no surprise that Maja was chosen to be one of the judges as she already has proven to all of us her exceptional talent in dancing.

Charo Santos-Concio
2009 and 2019 MMK

Saturday evenings are not complete without a dose of an MMK episode, which has always been brought to us by Charo Santos-Concio. Every time we see her on our television screens, it seems like she cannot justify her own version of the “How Hard Did Aging Hit You” Challenge as she looks like she has not really aged very much as the world-class quality of drama anthology series never lost its luster.

Luis Manzano
2009 Komiks Presents: Flash Bomba, 2019 Minute to Win It: The Last Man Standing

Luis portrayed the superhero Flash Bomba in 2009, but in more recent years, he did and is continuously doing what a lot of people think he’s best at, which is hosting. In 2009, Luis has become the host of two programs—the hit game show Minute to Win It: The Last Man Standing, which premiered its third season last January 7 and the reality dance competition, World of Dance Philippines.

Zanjoe Marudo
2009 The Wedding, 2019 Playhouse

These two teleseryes are relatively similar with each other as they both fall under the genre of romantic-comedy. As we all remember, Zanjoe was partnered with Anne Curtis in The Wedding, whereas in Playhouse, he currently plays the role of Marlon, the husband of Angelica Panganiban’s character Patty.

Jake Cuenca
2009 Tayong Dalawa, 2019 PHR Presents Los Bastardos

The 2009 drama series Tayong Dalawa revolved around the story of two brothers, portrayed by Jake and Gerald Anderson, who competed to win the heart of Audrey, played by Kim Chiu, the woman they both love. On the other hand, Jake’s role in Los Bastardos made us all realize how much of a hunk he really is. Although there is a similarity in the story of the two dramas, that is, the relationship and competition between brothers, the latter showcases Jake’s portrayal of the main role as the only legitimate son among the Los Bastardos.

Piolo Pascual
2009 Lovers in Paris, 2019 Home Sweetie Home

In these two programs, we can attest how versatile an actor Piolo really is. In the 2009 romantic teleserye Lovers in Paris, which again was a remake of the hit Korean series, Piolo played the lead character Carlo, who hires KC Concepcion’s character Vivian to pose as his fiancee. Meanwhile, his continuing stint in Home Sweetie Home this time shows his knack in situational comedy as the ever-reliable JP.

Toni Gonzaga
2009 PBB Double Up, 2019 PBB Otso

We can’t say it’s PBB if it does not have Toni Gonzaga as one of the hosts. In other words, we can say that it won’t be as complete without Toni Gonzaga. Imagine, since the beginning of the program in 2005, Toni has been with us to share all the exciting moments and happenings inside Kuya’s house, particularly PBB Double Up in 2009 and currently PBB Otso. On the other hand, at present, Toni has been part of the sitcom Home Sweetie Home, playing the role of Julie, the wife of Romeo, who was portrayed by John Lloyd Cruz.

Anne Curtis
2009 The Wedding, 2019 It’s Showtime

Who wouldn’t be enthralled with Anne’s exceptional performance in the 2009 teleserye The Wedding? She played a hopeless romantic who did the desperate act of getting engaged to a complete stranger, Marlon, portrayed by Zanjoe Marudo. And a month after The Wedding wrapped up, Anne became part of what became her now 10-year stint bringing joy to the Madlang People on It's Showtime.

Well, ten years is ten years! If there’s anything to prove about these artists in this ten-year “How Hard Did Aging Hit You” Challenge, it’s their staying power in the industry—how they remained lofty in their stature as celebrities we love, cheer on, and follow for the longest time.
